Have you tried using QTP with the Web and Java add-in loaded? Is this a front end test or low level testing? I know that HP Service Test 11.20 has support for headless testing of IBM WebSphere MQ. This patch enables you to install and use QuickTest 10.00 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems. Notes: 1. Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 do not support the Windows API test recognition mechanism. Therefore, when you install this patch, the ‘Use text recognition mechanisms in this order’ option in the Options dialog box (Tools > Options > Text Recognition) is set to ‘Use only OCR’, and cannot be changed (the option is disabled). 2. To support seat licenses on Windows 7, you must run instdemo.exe from QuickTest’s bin directory after installing this patch. (Seat licenses are not supported on Windows Server operating systems.) 3. If you want to test WPF objects, you must also add the following line to the [MicIPC] section of the \mercury.ini file. conhost.exe=0

I have tried with above suggestions…Issue here is objects are identifying in the form of WinObjects(as Windows application instead of VB application). Points to be consider here is : –
1) QTP is installed in one server, VB application is interacting with other server. But, both are in one Citrix farm….!

Jones » Hi Jones – not sure about this control. Have you tried loading QTP with the Web, Vb and Active X add-ins? I think the VSFlexGrid is an ActiveX control.

I have a web based application developed in Silverlight. QTP11 identifies the objects using WPF-addin. However application crashes every time QTP tries to spy any objects or record any step.

Vijay Deshmukh » What add-ins are you loading? I’ve seen issue when the Silverlight is loaded with the ActiveX add-in. If you are loading the ActiveX add-in adding the following reg key might help:
create a new registry key named [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Mercury Interactive\QuickTest Professional\MicTest\ActiveX Add-in\ProgID\AgControl.AgControl.4.1] with the following values as shown in the below image and restart QuickTest Professional:

Yes Now i am using QTP 11. here MFC 90 is available to identify stingray grid. But once script is going to select any row then it is not going to identify… showing unspecified error. After running this code Stingray grid is highlighted but then while selecting row or getting column count or row count it will show “unspecified error” and once click on stop Clarify Application get crashed with error msg window is “Clarify MFC Application Error”

Jay » Hi Jay – QTPNET_00113 is a Hotfix that is suppose to fix WPFTreeview unable to select item using index issue. QTP displays a ‘Run Error’ when passing an index value to select an item in a WpfTreeView control. Because this is a hotfox and not a patch I can not post it. HP has warned me not to post hotfixes. If you need a hotfix you have to contact HP support directly.
gamey06 » Because coldfusion is Adobe (Macromedia) software containing Flash controls. QTP does not have special support for Flash controls. If the application contains standard Windows controls, then QTP can recognize those controls as a regular Windows objects and interact with them. If the Coldfusion application contains Flex controls, you may be able to get improved support using the Adobe Flex add-in for QTP. Hope this helps. Cheers~Joe
Hi Joe, My QTP v11 is not initially recognizing WPF objects on a Win7x64 OS. I have the patches 120, 127, 699, and 709 installed. If I run Object Spy, it will recognize the WPF objects, and then successfully thereafter. Any idea why it won’t recognize them initially? Thanks — Jeff.
Jeff » Hi Jeff I’m not sure why this is happening I know before with QTP10 hp recommended installing the WPF add-in extensibility. The WPF SDK chnages the way QTP interacts with WPF apps including obj recognition issues. You could try installing the QTP11 WPF extensibility and see if that helps. Also you might want to contact HP and dbl check to see if there are any Hot Fixes for this issue. Good Luck~Joe
QTPWEB_00067 is apatch HP released for IE 8 “OpenedbyTestingtool” always being set to false for QTP11. They had released a patch QTPWEB_00057 for QTP 10 to address the same issue.
So if the user has issue with QTP 11 and IE 8 install the patch QTPWEB_00067 it helps.

I am facing issues with terminal emulator attachmate extra client 9.2. We have the terminal emulator add-ins installed and I tried all the 6 things and other things also which I can from my side. Issue is when I try to run the application through QTP it identifies it as standard window object but when I spy on an object, it shows it as TeWindow and TeScreen. I am using QTP-11. So, is there any patch to download to fix this issue. Please suggest me what to do.
