I Was Just Laid Off and Why I’m Happy

Have you ever wanted to go skydiving, but knew you could only do it if someone pushed you out of the plane?

That’s what this has been like for me.

Joe Sky Dive

I found out last month that in a cost-cutting move, I'd been laid off from my employer of 12+ years.

Truth be told, I’d been wanting to go solo with Test Guild ever since I started my online Guild conferences three years ago, but I hadn’t had the courage to make the move.

That’s one reason I moved from RI to TN—to lower my wife’s and my cost of living, so when I did leave my employer, I could make a better go with my own business.

Now, a month after getting pink-slipped, the shock has pretty much worn off, and I'm actually happy about it.

I now have time to plan at least four Guild Conferences in 2020 around:

So you can expect even more automation awesomeness from the Test Guild!

But, I want to be sure that I'm working on things that add value for YOU.

So if there’s a conference or podcast topic you want to see covered, or you maybe have an idea for a one-day summit, course, etc., let me know!

Also–now that I have the time, I’m curious to know if you’d be likely to attend a 2020 Guild Conference event.

Would you mind taking this quick survey to let me know which topics and speakers you’d like to see at the following online conferences?

If I receive enough feedback, I will move forward with each event.

And of course, the 4th Automation Guild conference is happening Feb 3-5. You can register now [here]

In addition to online conferences, I’m also focusing on creating more podcasts. I’m currently producing a weekly TestGuild Automation Podcast (formerly TestTalks) and a weekly TestGuild Performance Testing & SRE Podcast. And coming soon: the TestGuild Security Testing Podcast.

It seems I’m busier now than when I was basically working two jobs :)

I just wanted to let you know what I've been up to.

Thanks again for your support and your testing awesomeness! I’m looking forward to receiving your feedback.
