[00:00:00] Joe Colantonio How do you do email and SMS testing? Have you seen how you could scale your automation Mobile testing for gaming? And what critical business app outage costs 500,000 per hour of downtime? Find out In this episode of the Test Guild News Show for the week of September 24th. Grab your favorite cup of coffee or tea and let's do this.

[00:00:19] Joe Colantonio Are you looking to take your automation projects to the next level? Look no further than Applitools and their Visual AI Validation testing platform. Trust me, it is a true game-changer. Plus, you could try it out yourself by creating a free account now by using the special link in first comment down below and see the difference for yourself.

[00:00:39] Joe Colantonio This week I got asked a few times by different people, How do I test SMS and emails? So I actually wrote a blog post about this a while back, but I decided to repost it to try to answer this question better because email and SMS testing has never been easier or faster. And here's why. So in this post, I go over ways to do end-to-end testing outside of just browser-based automation and one tool you can use to help you with SMS and email testing is Mailosaur. This article goes over a session that was taken from a 2018 Automation Guild Session. But like I said, this tool has been updated since then, and because I got asked so many questions about it, I decided to repost it. So if you don't know, Mailosaur is a customer communication testing platform for an app product or campaign. But what does that mean? Well, they'll help you ensure every email and SMS your product sends looks and works the way you and your customer expect. And one of the main reasons why I decided to update this post is because the folks at Mailosaur reached out to me and offered the Test Guild community 20% off your first 12 months when you sign up using the code in the comment that you'll find down below and also in this blog post and you also get a 14-day free trial as well. So check it out and let me know what you think.

[00:01:57] Joe Colantonio So I also found an article on Generative AI, what it means for software development from the latest study from Forrester. So I actually found this on LinkedIn from Diego's post, and the research that he links to highlights the transformative potential of AI and Generative AI in software development. And he also highlights TuringBots. So since 2020, the advancement in Generative AI has been fast-tracked and the maturity of Turingbots by nearly a decade, these AI-driven tools are set to revolutionize industries, assisting in addressing challenges like code quality, performance, and user experience. And Turingbots become an integral part of the development landscape that kin to open source and Forrester suggests companies set up clear guidelines for their use. They share best practices and understand the associated risks associated, especially when Generative AI underpins the technology. And so Diego from Forrester emphasizes the importance of understanding the implications of Turing bots and offers insights into the current and future state of the market in this article that you can find down below in that first comment.

[00:03:04] Joe Colantonio I also came across two companies teaming up to make gaming testing even better. So in a strategic move to redefine gaming testing standards, GameDriver, a leading automated testing solution for gaming and XR experience, has teamed up with Kobiton a top-tier mobile testing solution provider, and this partnership aims to tackle the distinctive challenges game developers, QA, and testing professionals face to ensure top tier gaming quality and by integrating GameDrivers advanced automated gaming testing Technology. With Kobiton's extensive mobile testing platform, developers and testers can now streamline their gaming development and quality assurance processes across multiple gaming platforms, and this collaboration also promises faster gaming testing that will reduce time to market and enhance gaming experiences for players.

[00:03:53] Joe Colantonio So to showcase their combined powers of GameDriver and Kobiton, I decided to host a webinar on September 28. We're going to be going over how you can ensure a flawless user experience across multiple devices, operating systems, and gameplay scenarios in this free training, which is being called Scaling Automated Mobile Testing for gaming, we're going to go over how to design and provide game development teams to professionals and mobile app testers with invaluable insights into tackling the complexities of testing mobile games efficiently and effectively. And so this webinar is going to delve into advanced strategies, best practices, and cutting-edge tools and empower testers to automate and optimize the mobile game testing processes that will enable you to faster release without compromising quality. So we're going to go over understanding the landscape, how to leverage automation, scaling and testing, different benefits, continuous integration, and CI/CD for games, and also Real-World Case Studies to help you gain insights from others that have successfully implemented game testing in their organizations. So this is something you definitely don't want to miss. Register now and hope to see you there.

[00:05:03] Joe Colantonio So the source of this next article comes your way via James Pulley from Linked In, where he posts an article on how a critical business app outage costs 500,000 per hour of downtime. But the article itself goes over a full stack observability is gaining momentum, leading to improved service level metrics and hopefully reducing outage cost as revealed by a study from New Relic. And if you don't want to lose 500,000 per hour in downtime, the study says organizations adopting full stack observability report fewer and shorter outages. And interestingly, those with full-stack observability experienced 30% lower median outage costs compared to those without. This research underscores the significant financial implications of observability and the Chief Strategy and Design Office at new Relic, Peter emphasizes the tangible business value of observability, noting its role in reducing outages. Enhancing an organization's bottom line. Anytime you have a bottom line and saving money itself is something you should listen to and check out for yourself. If you're not doing anything with observability yet, you definitely should.

[00:06:12] Joe Colantonio And also, every time I hear of companies doing the same thing and releasing some of the functionality or investing in functionality means I, as a tester need to listen to paying attention. And so this next article is how Elastic Ai-powered leap in observability as something you should pay attention to as well. So in a recent announcement, Elastic, the renowned company behind Elasticsearch unveiled their latest innovation. The Elastic AI-Assistant for Observability is designed to provide SRE, developers, and testers with context-aware actual insights tailored to their specific IT environments. This comes as a response to the growing challenges faced by I.T. Operation teams who are currently under pressure to address rapidly evolving system issues. And while artificial intelligence for IT operations has been instrumental in streamlining from resolution, Elastic's new AI assistant takes it one step further because it harnesses the power of Generative AI and proprietary data to offer more precise solutions, eliminating the need for manual data searches across different platforms. And also, this helps expedite problem-solving by simplifying the understanding of application errors, log messages, and alert analysis. It also offers suggestions for optimal code efficiencies, and it enhances team collaboration by allowing interactive chats and visualizations of relevant telemetry data in a unified platform.

[00:07:39] Joe Colantonio All right. We have a follow the Money segment and guess what it's all about? It's all about, once again, observability. So in a landmark move, Cisco, known for its strategic acquisitions, has announced its intent to buy Splunk in a staggering $28 billion deal. And this acquisition brings Splunk's observability platform once again, observability under Cisco's umbrella, enhancing its security business by eating customers and comprehending security threats, and analyzing vast amounts of logged data. And Cisco's CEO Chuck Robbins emphasizes the AI-driven cybersecurity aspect of this merger, aiming to bolster AI-enabled security from threat detection to prevention. Start learning more about observability because obviously, it is hot, hot, hot today in this environment.

[00:08:28] Joe Colantonio Besides observability, once again, we're going back to Generative AI. Another company has released another feature to help you leveraging Generative A.I. and so Perforce Software, a leading DevOps solution provider has unveiled the test data pro by BlazeMeter which is a cutting-edge addition to its continuous testing platform. And this new component leverages once again generative AI technology to simplify and enhance test data creation. And this innovation aims to tackle the challenge of acquiring synchronized and accurate test data, especially as business adopts a shift left testing strategy. So Stephen Feloney, VP of Continuous testing at Perforce, highlights the time-consuming nature of obtaining test data from production and the urgency in today's fast-paced release environment. A notable feature of the Test Data Pro is its ability to use Generative AI to quickly profile and produce DNA generation functions and test data from the ground up. So this ensures testers like you have precise data for your test.

[00:09:31] And once again, for links to everything we covered in this News episode. Head over to the links in the first comment down below. And while you're there, make sure to check out our awesome sponsor Applitools Free Account offer and discover how to take your automation testing to the next level Leveraging Visual AI.
