First up, Automation News.
First up, we have RoboCorp announcing the release of the public beta of Automation Studio, which is the first code native low-code RPA development solution that offers developers and business users the latest and fastest way to create automation enterprise processes. RPA has been a big trend recently, and so I'm happy to see more and more vendors coming up with solutions such as this one. So RoboCorp deals with many different companies, and they notice that a lot of them are struggling with RPA and how to scale the development of new automation and that this new Gen2 RPA solution will help people virtually eliminate broken bots and the need to fix them. It provides limitless automation opportunities across technology stacks, helps you create scalable, portable, and reusable bots without vendor lock-in and requires no licensing fees, and has no long-term commitments. So some innovations in RPA were led by the folks at RoboCorp. Check that out in the first comment down below.
So if you're a tester, you do any sort of software development, you know the UI UX nowadays is one of the most important parts of an application, but how do you test it effectively? So this next resource is a webinar amnesty of UI UX testing. And so in this webinar, the folks from Applitools have the results of a survey they did of over 800 of the best frontend developers, designers, and testers. So you can help benchmark yourself against these particular results. So in this webinar, you're going to hear what organizations say is the hardest part of front-end testing. You can see how often today's teams are doing usability testing, and you're going to explore just how much automation is really happening and some of the roadblocks to adoption. So if you're looking for a real world, what's happening with other automation testers in the space and developers and how they're handling different situations with the UI UX testing, you definitely need to register for this awesome webinar and you can catch it in the first comment down below.
So as you probably know, despite advances in test automation, low-code, no code, and other solutions, testing still sometimes remains a blocker for software innovation and development velocity. But why? This next article covers how to transform your test automation to actually work. This article is by Amir and also Eran, two industry leaders in the automation space. And it goes over some of the common areas where automation isn't keeping up to speed with software development and some reasons why it's ineffective. It also goes over how these things can be changed. It has eight different ways. It has different phases on how to implement a more effective testing solution. So great resource. Thank you Amir for that, and thank you, Eran, also for help and coauthor this particular article as well.
And so this next article is also written by Eran on how Apple's recent announcement impacts developers and testers. So it just goes over what the announcements were. And also what's even more important is how to get ready for some of these before they actually launch. So things developers and testers could do right now to get ready. So definitely check that out and get ready for these new developments for sure.
So this is a big announcement if you really want to know what the future of cross-browser automation is, and that is WebDriver BiDi. This is by the folks at Google and it talks about some of the current solutions out there. Obviously Selenium WebDriver, some of its strengths and also some of its limitations. It also goes over the Chrome Developer Protocol. Once again, has some strengths and weaknesses for that approach. And also, Puppeteer talks about some of its strengths and weaknesses before it actually gets into why WebDriver BiDi is needed. If you don't know, WebDriver BiDi is a new standard protocol for browser automation, which will be based on the bi-directional transport protocol, web socket, or pipes. And the idea is to get the best from the two worlds WebDriver and CDP and a standard browser automation protocol with fast bi-directional transport with low level control. And the article goes on to talk about some of the advantages of bi-di. So this is a must must read. So if anything you listen to this is probably the number one thing you should listen to this week and definitely check this out in the first comment down below.
Next up, Performance and Site Reliability News.
So if you're looking for performance engineering resources but you don't know where to start. Scott Moore, one of the leading go-to places I head up for any type of performance information, just release a new video with some quick things you can do or resources to help get you up to speed with performance engineering. And all these resources are online, and if you click on the link within LinkedIn and so you have to watch the video to actually pull out all the different resources that you can get for free on performance engineering. A must-watch video. Definitely check that out.
So if you watched the show for a while, you know we cover a lot of news items on automation testing from mobile apps, but what about Site Reliability Engineering from native mobile apps? So that's what this next resource is all about. So obviously, the reliability of mobile applications is a vital quality of any application in the modern world. But a lot of times people think that the development of mobile applications is a simple matter, but creating sufficiently reliable applications on a large scale is associated with several problems. And this article goes over what some of those problems are, and it also breaks down some SRE principles directly for mobile applications, for example, mobile application risk, application availability, crashes, and how you can learn from failures. So if you want to learn more about applying site reliability principles to your testing of mobile apps, here's a good resource to get started with.
So if you know me, I'm always on the lookout for new open source solutions around any type of automation that could be done in your DevOps pipelines, especially with performance testing. So this next article is all about a new open-source load generator. And so this next article is by Andrey, and he announces the availability now of Encarno, which is written in Golang and built to be used via Taurus. So the some key features of this open source load generator project is it actually load generates up to tens of thousands of hits. It has precise results, measurements of nanosecond resolution. It's effective and has low overhead. It's written and go and it has minimalistic scripting with regex extracts and asserts. And also there is some usage and how to use it. And make sure to star on GitHub and show Andrey some love to let him know you appreciate this new open-source solution.
Next up, Security News.
So I didn't find many articles around security testing that caught my attention this week or even last week I missed last week. But this next one detects how DHS seeks automated SBOM tools for enhanced supply chain visibility. So anytime I see automated and tools, and security it grabs my attention. So let's check it out. So what is DHS? What is this SBOM? Well, the DHS is the Department of Homeland Security, and they want to encourage tech companies to develop automated software bill of material tools, offering more visibility into supply chain, been paying attention to security in the news in the past year. Supply chain has been huge. So these tools are really needed vulnerability and software are a key risk in cybersecurity, with known exploits being primary parts for bad actors to inflict a range of harms, says the director, Alan Friedman of CISI. And by leveraging SBOMs as key elements of software security, you can mitigate the risk of software supply chain response new risk faster and more efficiently. And so this new call for tools has different phases. So what's great about this program is that they're offering 500,000 up to 200,000 in funding to produce a minimal viable product within 3 to 9 months. So if you're testing nerd, you want to get into security or you want to start developing tools or you're already developing tools, here's a great opportunity to put it to good use. It's also get some cash, so don't miss this and check it out before phase one ends in October.
