Saying Goodbye..

A lot has changed since I started joecolantonio.com more than nine years ago.

It began as a way to share what I was working on day-to-day as an automation/performance engineer, and most of the topics I covered was related to my hands-on experience with the Mercury/HP/MicroFocus test stack—QTP, LoadRunner, and ALM.

Over the years, however, I found myself evolving into more of a researcher/architect role, and began expanding to cover all things automation-related: open-source tools, DevOps, security testing, and more.

Of late, I’ve begun to cover topics based solely on what I've learned from other experts in the industry and sharing them with you.

Testing Podcasts and Online Conferences

I also began hosting a weekly podcast as well as online conferences dedicated to helping software testers grow in their craft.

Needless to say, things have grown well beyond the initial vision of a simple personal brand blog.

The simple fact is, I've outgrown my name.

To reflect this change, I've decided to rename joecolantonio.com and TestTalks to TestGuild.

What is a Guild?

A guild /ɡɪld/ is an association of artisans (software engineers) who oversee the practice of their craft/trade in a particular area (testing).

TestGuild will be where we can all come together to learn how to use #automation #performance #security testing and tools more effectively.

Going forward, everything will be under the TestGuild name. This will open up opportunities for others to contribute as well.

I'll also be starting a podcast dedicated to Performance, which will be called the TestGuild Performance Podcast.

I think you get the picture.

Guild Conferences will remain a separate site but will be highly integrated with Test Guild.

Our new logo reflects this change as well.

First, the obvious, Guilds got their start in the Middle Ages and what’s more middle ages than castles?

Also, guild’s protected their members in many ways, so the castle shield reflects the guild as a safe space for folks to learn, ask questions, exchange ideas, support each other and perfect their testing craft.

Also besides the top of the Guild Logo shield resembling a castle it also represents a piece of a puzzle, which highlights how testing is a valuable piece of any software development project.

This is how I see our community and the spirit I would like to foster at Test Guild.

Lastly, I want to assure you that, although the name might be new, you can come here to find the same helpful resources and automation awesomeness you have come to rely on in the past.
