Improve your Automation

Happy New Year! Do you want to start your New Year’s test automation efforts off right? Are you looking to improve your automation. In this post you’ll discover how to succeed in your 2017 automation efforts by doing this one thing.

Imagine Your 2017 Test Automation

I want you to first imagine your future self at the end of this year, looking back at your 2017 test efforts. Your tests are less flaky. You have more automated tests at the right levels. The time it takes to test your software in your continuous integration/continuous delivery environments has decreased because of the improvements that you have made.

You’re probably up for a promotion and your manager and company are “wicked” happy with you. So what happened? How did you improve your automation?

Test Automation Transformation

Well, this is the type of transformation I’m envisioning for all the attendees of the first ever, online event of its kind dedicated 100% to helping you succeed with creating automation awesomeness – Automation Guild. If that future sounds good to you, register now before it’s too late!

Take Action To Improve Your Automation

The person who takes action in life is the one who makes progress and succeeds:

This will actually be covered in one of our keynotes from the founder of Simple Programmer, John Sonmez. John believes that taking action is one of the most important skills you can have in life, and one of the most important things you can do in life. Here’s a small sample from John’s awesome keynote:

“That's what I want to talk about today with you. This idea of taking action. So many of us, we listen to stuff; we hear good ideas, and we don't ever take action in our careers, in our lives.

I get plenty of emails from people that have maybe watched my videos, or they've seen my blog posts or some of my PluralSight courses, and they say they want to improve their lives; they say they want to change their lives, and they ask a lot of questions: “Should I do this, should I do that,” and they're not actually doing something. They're not actually taking the action that's going to move the ball forward, that's going to improve their lives.

It's really important that you figure out, in your life — what you want to do in your career — and figure out what steps you need to take to do that. There are a lot of things along the way that are going to stop you, that are going to prevent you from taking action. I know, because I experience all those things myself. I take a lot of bold action today, but I wasn't always like this. It's still difficult.

You're always going to fight this battle, because it's easier to do nothing. It's easier to get caught up in trying to make a decision, in trying to determine what the best thing to do is, and not do anything at all.”
John goes on to lay out some actionable advice on how you can “take action” to create greatness in automation and in life. So what are you going to do to improve your automation testing in 2017?
